Cologne Burgers

BEST BURGER COLOGNE, GERMANY

1. Die Fette Kuh

The restaurant “Die Fette Kuh” is widely known throughout the city. It is considered one of the best places to go for burgers. It’s no wonder that customers line up all the way down the street to get their hands on a burger from “Die Fette Kuh”.

For those who want to avoid the hustle and bustle, you can order your burger online and pick it up. Cologne offers a variety of outdoor seating options, so you can still enjoy your burger while dining outside.

2. Freddy Schilling

The burger restaurant Freddy Schilling has not just one, but two locations in Cologne. This means you can get a real Freddy Schilling burger both in the student district and in the Eigelstein neighborhood.

In addition to burgers like the KÖLLEFORNIA, topped with Cheddar, avocado, sweet potatoes, and bacon, you’ll find creations here with goat cheese, onions, honey, and much more. Vegetarians are also well catered for with delicious options available.

3. Karl Hermanns

Karl Hermanns is one of the best burger restaurants in Cologne that I have come across. What I really like about them is the amazing quality of their meat.

They take pride in sourcing the finest ingredients and have gone the extra mile to find the perfect suppliers. Their meat is freshly ground every day, and they never use frozen products.

One thing that sets them apart is their homemade sauces, which add a special touch to every dish. You can taste the difference in the burgers, thanks to their commitment to quality.

While their prices may be slightly higher compared to other burger joints, the quality you get is definitely worth it.

Please note that Karl Hermanns is closed on Mondays and Tuesdays.

4. EinBurgerung

The restaurant EinBurgerung is also located in the Südstadt neighborhood.

Even though I have never been there in person, I have ordered burgers from them multiple times. The restaurant offers handmade beef patties, freshly baked burger buns, and hand-cut fries.

The quality is evident in every bite. I highly recommend EinBurgerung as a must-try place.

5. Marx & Engels

The restaurant Marx & Engels is located in the Ehrenfeld district. They proudly promote the use of regional products sourced from German farmers.

They are open every day and you can make table reservations online. Additionally, you can place orders online through their website.

Pulled Pork Burger

6. Burger Hof

The Burger Hof is located in my neighborhood in Zollstock. I love going there and having their Cäsar burger.

It’s a small place with limited seating options. The store is open every day.

7. Bulls Burger

The restaurant Bulls Burger is located in Hürth, just outside of Cologne.

Although I have never been to the restaurant itself, I have had their burgers delivered multiple times.

My recommendation here is the El Mariachi Burger with a double patty, lettuce, cheddar cream, jalapenos, tomatoes, salsa, crispy onions, guacamole, and nachos.

There were times when I would have died for this burger.

8. The Burger House

The restaurant “The Burger House” is located on Zülpicher Straße in the student district, very close to the largest university cafeteria. It’s hard to miss it.

The Burger House offers regional ingredients, juicy beef, and homemade sauces, making it a popular choice for lunch and dinner among those in the university area.

9. Hans im Glück

“Hans im Glück” is a burger chain that takes its name from a Brothers Grimm fairy tale. You can find three of these restaurants in central locations in Cologne.

What sets Hans im Glück apart is not only their burgers with fairy tale-inspired names, but also the entire ambiance of the restaurant, which resembles a magical forest.

10. Burger Me

Even though I have never been to a “Burger Me” restaurant in person, I have ordered food from there countless times.

Burger Me offers a wide selection of creatively crafted burgers. Their fries are also very delicious. Currently, there are four locations in Cologne.

Cheeseburger

BEST BURGER IN COLOGNE, GERMANY

If you’re looking for a great burger in Cologne, you have plenty of options. Over the past few years, many excellent burger restaurants have opened in the city.

The highest concentration of burger restaurants can be found in the city center, as well as in the Südstadt and Ehrenfeld neighborhoods. However, other districts often have such restaurants that are not yet as well-known.

It’s particularly worth reserving a table or ordering takeout from popular restaurants like “Die Fette Kuh” or “Karl Hermanns.” Otherwise, the wait to get a seat on-site could be quite long.

IF BURGERS AREN’T FOR YOU….

Cologne is home to a wide range of exceptional restaurants serving a diverse array of cuisines. Despite the common misconception that Germans only eat potatoes, sauerkraut and sausages, the city’s dining scene offers much more than traditional German food.

While brewery establishments are a popular choice for tourists seeking a taste of authentic German cuisine, there are many other options available, ranging from Italian and French cuisine to sushi and Indian dishes.
